Hi my name is Berit

The world is full of advice on how to live for longer, but what about living better? We all know that we should exercise, not smoke, eat healthy, sleep better and have fulfilling relationships. But knowledge alone doesn’t change behaviour. Most of us need support, motivation and accountability to turn our goals into reality. Furthermore, health and wellbeing is very personal. What makes you feel happy, energised and fulfilled is different from other people. Plus we all carry (unconscious) belief and biases that might be hindering us from seeing and living better lives.

I would love to help you find your personal way towards better physical and mental wellbeing.

I am a certified mindfulness teacher and a health coach. By blending the two, I help people build awareness, resilience, and psychological flexibility while setting personalised goals and sustainable healthy habits.

I hold a BA (Honours) in Psychology (UK), a MA of Communication (DK) and a MSc of Health Ageing and Society (NL). Before founding Thriving Life I worked as a communication- and PR specialist in Denmark and Australia. I am Danish, married to a Welshman and currently live in the Netherlands. I have recently successfully launched my two children from the nest to universities in Sweden.

I am a category 1 member of VMBN (Vereniging Mindfulness Based Trainers Nederland en Vlaanderen), which means that I meet the quality requirements necessary for my clients to receive reimbursement from health insurance companies for for instance mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) I offer.

Ageing Upwards

As I got older myself, I became interested in what it means to age well. Not how to age “successfully” or “gracefully” (both exremely ageist terms that indicate that ageing is something negative), but rather how we can fully embrace the challenges and joys of this phase of life. I went back to university at the age of 50 and as part of my master thesis for a MSc in Health, Ageing and Society, I developed, taught and researched an online Mindfulness Based Vitality and Ageing (MBVA) course. This developed into a book: “Ageing Upwards – A mindfulness based framework for the longevity revolution, which was a finalist in the Business Book Award and has been translated into Taiwanese.

Since publishing the book, I’ve been passionate about helping people create fullfilling lives beyond midlife from the inside out.

What is Health Coaching?  Health Coaching is a new but fast growing field as our health care systems is under pressure and demand for individualised, proactive healthcare increases. Health coaching is a collaborative, client-centered approach that supports individuals in making meaningful and sustainable behavior changes to improve their overall well-being. By focusing on self-awareness, personal values, and realistic goal setting, health coaching can help people clarify what matters most to them and translate that insight into daily actions. Through ongoing support, accountability, and skill-building, it empowers individuals to overcome barriers, build confidence, and maintain healthier habits, leading to not only lasting improvements in physical health but also mental and emotional health.

What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the practice of intentionally paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgment, helping people become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. By strengthening self-awareness, mindfulness allows individuals to recognize unhelpful pattern, such as stress reactivity or automatic habits, and respond more skillfully rather than impulsively. This increased psychological flexibility supports better decision-making around sleep, nutrition, movement, and emotional regulation, making healthy behaviors easier to sustain over time. As a result, mindfulness contributes to more resilient mental well-being and long-term, sustainable health.
